Hello everybody this is my third post, it's about Academic Challenges in 2020

I have a lot of courses this year, I study Music Theory and I don't like too much this career, it's pretty conservative, it studies very old things, almost everything is about classical music and rules about the harmony or melodies, it gives you a lot of work to learn and you cannot use your creativity, it's not about being a musician, it feels like you're just a viewer, and you must analyze things that were made 2 centuries in the past.
I would change a lot of things, because I think being a musician means to play music and to compose and create beautiful things, I would make new courses like composition, literature and a course to choose what instrument do you like to learn, that would be a very complete career. In this career the instrument you must play is the Piano, if you don't know how or you don't learn to play it you are a dead man, because they use Piano as the principal tool for teaching everything else.
You have annual courses so if you fail to complete one you have to wait a year to course it again, this is a pain.
The faculty have a very bad infrastructure, the pianos are old and they are out of tune, we have no courtyards, only a little terrace, that was made 1 year ago, the building is old and we don't have too much space. The teaching methods are pretty outdated, we never use computer or online lessons to learn music, this faculty has no platform, so you must go to the library or the internet to search books and information by yourself, almost everything you have to do it by yourself, because even the communication with the teachers and with the department is very bad, you don't receive emails or information about what's going to happen with the courses or how the performance evaluation is going to be, so you must ask. So the challenge for this 2020 is to survive.

  2. I agree with many things that you say, I found terrible that they still giving like a 95% of importance to occidental old music, when actually it is so different, hugs and hope you can handle this problems!!! :)

  3. That thing about out of tone pianos sounds like a pain in the ass (sorry for the expression), you should be able to choose any instrument that you want or at least have adequate pianos.
